Azidothymidine myopathy. Ragged red fibers suggestive of abnormal mitochondria are evident on modified Gomori trichrome stain. In addition, necrotic fibers, cytoplasmic bodies, nemaline rods, and fibers with microvacuolation may be seen in addition to ragged red fibers.
