Basal cell carcinoma. In addition, we now recognize that basal cell carcinoma may occur in healthy children who have had excessive sun exposure and may carry a genetic predilection for this form of skin cancer. The lesions are pearly and telangiectatic papules or nodules, and treatment is surgical excision.
