You are treating a patient who has an indwelling catheter and is preparing for gait training. How should you handle the catheter for gait training?

  1. Attach or carry the catheter below the lateral level and safely secure the tubing to avoid stepping on or compressing the tube
  2. Call nursing to remove the catheter for the duration of the physical therapy treatment
  3. Gait training is not possible when a patient is wearing an indwelling catheter
  4. Secure the catheter to the bed and only ambulate the distance allowed by the tubing

The solution will be posted in a few days
