
Dermal erythropoiesis. “Blueberry muffin” rash in an infant with congenital CMV. Dermal erythropoiesis, seen in association with congenital CMV infection, is commonly called the “blueberry muffin rash” for its classic violaceous appearance. Lesions are diffuse and appear petechial or purpuric.
