The 11th edition of Schwartz's Principles of Surgery is now available on AccessSurgery. The book is celebrating its 50th anniversary since McGraw-Hill published the 1st edition in 1969, and is still regarded as the cornerstone textbook in general surgery throughout the world. The book's first editor and namesake, Seymour Schwartz, still remains active as Distinguished Alumni Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Rochester, where he regularly attends grand rounds. Dr. Schwartz wrote a historical perspective on the vast changes in the practice of surgery and medicine that he witnessed over his 65-year career as a surgeon, which is available in front of the paywall on AccessSurgery - Principles of Surgery: Redux and Reconsideration
