Uncombable hair syndrome. This syndrome presents during infancy or childhood with “spun glass” hair. The hair is blond, grows slowly, and is extremely difficult to comb or manage. Subtle longitudinal grooves may be noted on light microscopy and are clearly seen with a scanning electron microscope. Autosomal dominant inheritance is seen in some cases, and the condition may improve as the patient grows older.
