Solution to Patient positioning

The correct answer is 3. Left sidelying does not compromise respiration and avoids placing stress on the right ischial tuberosity. A prone position would relieve pressure over the right ischial tuberosity, but a patient with COPD should not lie in the prone position as breathing would be very difficult. Both the right sidelying  position and supine position would assist with breathing but would place pressure on the ischial tuberosity.
