Vasculitic neuropathy in microscopic polyangiitis

A medium-sized muscular artery (vasa nervorum) identified at sural nerve biopsy. The biopsy reveals inflammation throughout the blood vessel wall, accompanied by necrosis. The vessel and its branches supply the sural nerve with blood. Its disruption by necrotizing vasculitis leads to mononeuritis multiplex.
